Family Really Matters

The funny thing about families is they are great when you need them but when there’s problems it’s a pain in the butt. Don’t get me wrong I love my family but sometimes you can really need to get away from them. There is a great saying that says God gave us friends because we can’t choose our family. That statement is so powerful. As you grow up you start depending more and more on yourself and less in your family. This is part of growing up. When I was younger I used to depend on my parents more about what my family thought of me and less on what I thought of myself. But now that I am in my mid 30s I realize the most important person in the world you can impress is yourself. I can now say that I am proud and amazed at my abilities. At the ability of overcoming obstacles placed in front of me. At my ability to create. At my ability to conquer. It’s a great place to be and I waited a long time to be here. So next time you catch yourself thinking about what others think of you, paused for a moment and ask yourself what do I think of myself.
